About the fellowship
The WAF Science Communication Fellowship program was launched in June 2026 with the objective of nurturing the next generation of scientific communicators in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine through structured training, mentorship, and hands-on editorial experience with the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (J-AIM).
Program Overview

- Interactive weekly meetings with fellows

Training and Editorial Activities
- Conducted orientation, induction sessions
- Exposure to editorial workflow and manuscript processing
- Training for Desk review, peer review, editor proofreading
- Discussion on COPE publication ethics and Equator Network guidelines
- Submission of monthly progress report
- Planning, coordination and execution of webinar sessions
Key Projects and Outreach
- Built social media plans and educational workshop ideas
- Created Virtual Special Issue (VSI) concepts and classified articles
- Shared 10 top Yoga articles from J-AIM with stakeholders on International Day of Yoga (21st June 2026)
- Set individual three-month projects and future webinar sessions

Session 1: Peer review in scientific publishing

Session 2: Preparations for the manuscript writing

- Speaker: DR. Manohar Gundeti, MD Ayurveda and Research Officer (Ayu) at R.A.Podar Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Mumbai (Under CCRAS)
- Chair Person: Prof. John Porter, Emeritus Professor of International health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Aligning with the above activities, we wish to plan a meeting on 29th to 31st October 2026 with the following agenda:
1. Bonding meeting with stakeholders of J-AIM
2. Interaction of editorial board members
3. A Workshop for WAF fellows and editors and reviewers
